The Indian Navy’s East Coast Motor Car Rally was flagged off from INS Netaji Subhas, Kolkata, covering 3,800 km to Kanyakumari and concluding in Chennai on March 21. The initiative aims to promote maritime awareness, encourage naval recruitment, and highlight career opportunities, including the Agnipath scheme. The rally will pass through four coastal states—West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.
A total of 56 participants, including Navy officers, sailors, and their families, are part of the expedition. Along the route, the team will visit schools and colleges to educate students about naval careers and defense services. The initiative also aligns with the government’s Nari Shakti campaign, emphasizing women’s role in the armed forces. Additionally, the team will meet Navy veterans and Veer Naris to discuss welfare schemes and support initiatives.
The rally will also explore India’s maritime heritage by visiting historic naval sites and key locations along ancient trade routes. Coastal security awareness and the strategic importance of maritime trade will be highlighted throughout the journey. These interactions aim to strengthen ties between the Navy and coastal communities while reinforcing the significance of India's naval traditions.
The Indian Navy has undertaken similar outreach programs to engage with the public and spread awareness about maritime security. This rally continues that effort, fostering stronger community engagement and encouraging the next generation to consider careers in the Navy.
